We will use this page to offer files for downloading. Please note that these files are all issued as SHAREWARE.
What Is Shareware?
------------------
There are many ways a software author can release his program to the public.
You are all probably familiar with RETAIL software. This is the software you
purchase at a store or over the Internet. RETAIL software offers you no way to
actually try the software before you try it. You have to depend on the
description on the box, reviews by others who may not have the same needs as you
or friends/associates wbo have used the software. All that advertising and
marketing has a cost and that cost increases the cost of the software.
PUBLIC DOMAIN software is software that the author has released to the public.
That means it is not copyrighted and anyone can use it any fashion. Sometimes
PUBLIC DOMAIN software will contain the source code. In that case, you are
free to change it to your heart's content with no thought as to what the orginal
author may think.
FREEWARE is somewhat similar to public domain software. However, the big
difference is that with FREEWARE, the original author retains the copyright.
This allows the author to retain some level of control over the software.
Usage of the software is free.
DEMOWARE is usually retail software that will only "show" you how the software
works. Usage of the software is severely limited if available at all.
CRIPPLEWARE is typically a retail software software package that has key features,
such as saving to a file or printing, "crippled" or disabled. This allows you to
use the program but not to use some important functions.
SHAREWARE, though, is different from all the above. SHAREWARE allows you to fully
use the program. All functions are available with none disabled. As with Freeware,
the original author retains the copyright and both the ability and the responsibility
to maintain the program.
As a SHAREWARE user, your responsibility is to use the program for the amount of
time designated by the author and, if you find it useful, register with the author.
Yes, that means sending the author money. There are usually benefits attached to
registering your copy of a shareware program. These may vary according to the
program and the author.
The first file, PERFMISC.EXE©, is a "compendium" of formulas, most of which are already on the website. This current version is 01.3.0. This program will be updated periodically as more formulas are added.
This program was written in freeBASIC and as such, it is a Windows console program or a DOS 32 bit program. Please read the "README.TXT" file included with the program. It will unzip to C:\PERFMISC automatically. Please note that the help file included with this program only works in Windows.
Left Click to download PERFMISC.EXE©The second file is called PERFMISC_W.EXE©, version 1.3.0. It is a full Windows version of the above console program.
Left Click to download PERFMISC_W.EXE©Once you have installed the Windows program, if you go to the main subdirectory, C:\Program Files\Keller Racing\PerfMisc, you will see a file like pmbwx13x.exe. Here is the "code" for our files: The "PM" stands for "Performance Miscellaneous". The next "B" stands for the language the program was written in, in this case a dialect of BASIC, LibertyBASIC. The following "W" means it is a Windows program. If you downloaded the PERFMISC.EXE© file, when you unzip it and go the same subdirectory, you will see the file, pmbcx13x.exe. In this case, the the "PM" stands for Performance Miscellaneous, the next "B" stands for a different BASIC dialect, in this case freeBASIC and the "C" stands for console or DOS program.
The "X"'s will be the version number eventually. Our version numbers will be in the form XX.X.X. The first two X's are for the version number. The next X will be for temporary upgrades and the final X will be for bug fixes for that version.
The second program is PERFORMANCE TUNER©. This program allows the user to input current atmospheric conditions and not only tune the carb but also predict performance based on the current atmospheric conditions. This program also comes in two versions, a DOS/Console version and a Windows version.
This program is now version 01.1.0. New for this version is the ability of the user to alter the "fudge" factor in estimating et and mph. In view of the fact that the weight and other attributes of the both the bike and rider are different, we felt it best to open up this aspect. We also found some inconsistencies in the section that displays the tuning factor portion of the program. The number displayed would be correct but it could have the wrong sign; e.g. a positive number may show up negative and vice versa. We also tightened up the code to produce better results. It is now correct to about 6 decimal places whereas before it was only correct to about 3.

We have a new addition to our downloadable files. For those of your who are interested in land speed racing, PERF_LSR is now available. This is a very simple, basic program. If performs two functions. First, based on your gearing, tire size and rpm, it will tell you what the maximum speed is for those conditions. Next, using that maximum speed, it will tell you how much horsepower is required to reach that speed under those conditions.
Left Click to download PERF_LSR.EXE©The next programs due down the pipeline are an analysis program and a drag race simulation. Please stop by later for these programs.
Support for these programs can be found at SUPPORT.
